Frequently Asked Questions
What is INDEPENDENT Catholicism?
Independent Catholicism refers to churches that celebrate Catholic sacraments and hold apostolic succession but operate outside the Roman Catholic Church.
These communities are often inclusive, locally governed, and focused on creating a modern expression of Catholic faith rooted in the sacraments.
Are you trying to recreate the Roman model?
No. We are not trying to replicate the structure or systems of the Roman Catholic Church.
Independent Catholicism honors the depth of Catholic tradition, but moves with the freedom to respond to the needs of today.
We are not bound by bureaucracy or centuries-old limitations. Instead, we are free to build something bold and new.
Our worship is rooted in the sacraments, but expressed in ways that are modern, relevant, and spiritually alive.
This is not about imitation. It is about inspiration. It is about creating a liturgy and a church that speak to this moment and the people in it.
Are you allowed to use the word Catholic?
Yes. The word "Catholic" is not owned or restricted by the Roman Catholic Church. It is a historic and universal term that means "according to the whole" and has been used by many Christian communities since the earliest days of the Church.
We use the word Catholic with purpose. We believe in the power of the sacraments, the call to social justice, and the sacred worth of every person. We are not focused on what Rome is doing. We are focused on building something new. A fresh and faithful expression of Catholicism for today.
This is Catholic that is inclusive, sacramental, spirit-filled, and ready to meet the moment.
Is this a real church?
Yes, it is.
We are part of the Apostolic Catholic Church in America, a valid branch of the Independent Catholic tradition, with apostolic succession and sacramental life at our core.
What makes a church real is not hierarchy or size, but the presence of Christ, the celebration of the sacraments, and the faith of the people who gather.
We may not follow the traditional institutional model, but we are fully committed to the Gospel, the Eucharist, and building a community where everyone belongs and grace is real.
This is a real church doing sacred work in a new way.
